                      Share the Journey

Mental Health Month NSW is part of a national mental health promotion campaign held throughout October each year. The campaign aims to increase awareness, and promote mental health and wellbeing for all people living in NSW.

Mental Health Month is coordinated by the WayAhead – Mental Health Association NSW.

This year, the theme is ‘Share the Journey'

Connecting with others is important for our health and survival. Close connections and good relationships with others allow us to enjoy the good times in our lives and helps us to cope with the challenging experiences we face.

Sometimes for those living with a mental illness loneliness may be intensified by social exclusion, stigma and discrimination. As social beings, this can affect all aspects of our wellbeing.

‘Share the Journey’ focuses on the importance of social connections in our journey to better mental health and our ability to cope with life’s challenges. Good social connections not only improve our overall mental health and wellbeing, they also build our resilience.

Each year, WayAhead – Mental Health Association NSW:

  • Offers a number of small grants to support community events. Grants are available for initiatives targeting Culturally & Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities. Click here for more information.

  • Recognises the importance of targeted work with culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities through holding a specific award for work withe CALD) Communities .
