This webinar aims to provide participants with a deeper understanding of grief, loss and bereavement and their relationship to wellbeing in culturally diverse contexts. The webinar is aimed at community leaders, volunteers and non-clinical staff working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities. The webinar will be both practical and interactive.
The webinar will provide an overview of what grief, bereavement and mourning are, followed by a discussion on the different types of grief, its stages and hints and tips on how to interact with a person who is grieving.
The relationship between grief, the experience of being a migrant and cultural differences in the grieving process will also be explored. Based on this framework participants will then be encouraged to consider the differences and similarities between grief, depression and trauma.
The webinar will conclude by focusing on the wellbeing of participants with an examination of the importance of recognising the signs of distress and a discussion on self-care.
